Dad

I took this picture on 29th January 2007, Dad had been in hospital for a couple of weeks suffering from a chest infection and dehydration. When I took the photo, he was feeling better and was able to laugh, smile and was back to his old self. But the next day he was a bit wheezy again.. and on 1st February, at about 3am, I got a phone call from the hospital to come quickly.
I am sorry to say that Dad had died, before I got there.

The emotions are very mixed up now. Sadness, a bit tearful, but also relieved. He had Alzheimer's and maybe his pneumonia and heart problems could have been a blessed release. He was 88.
I will miss him.

  • Am very sorry to hear of your dad passing away, Sheila..... And although it was to be expected and although it may be for the best, it is still very hard to come to terms with... But,from experience, I know that ,as time passes by, all the sad memories will be replaced by the good and funny ones...Condolences to your family....and a big hug for you...

  • Hi Sheila. It is a little bit late but I would like to leave a comment on your blog. I am sorry to hear your dad passed away. The photo of your dad tells us how he loved you and how he appreciated your support and care. For the last few months I spent everyweekend to take care of my parents in my hometown. I can understand your situation much better than before. I am sure you will recall various memories with your dad when you walk and drive along the road you used to pass thru with him. I hope spring wind and spring flowers will bring new life and hope for you and your mom. Please rest well after a serial busy days after the funeral. Hugs for you and your mom.
