Amser Cymraeg, Walmart style

Another example of Welsh Time that has been annoying me for sometime.
The sign below is in Llangefni, the centre of this island, the administrative centre too, with officials at the council offices and all sorts. I can't say that I like Llangefni much, in fact I avoid the town as much as possible, but when I moved here in June 2005, I was hoping for a decent supermarket to open in the Autumn when this sign was erected.
I had not thought about Welsh time then... Amser Cymraeg struck again. Just look at the Welsh sign... at the year..
I have even asked for a translation of the words and I am told that they do say very much the same...
Except for one detail

The year

I don't understand, but it has been good to know that even Walmart is not immune to Amser Cymraeg.

  • omg hmm remember I said....ooo you will soon have a real store!! merde wonder what bureacratic nightmare "they" got entangled in trying to setup the store? glad I don't have to do business there - no wonder it's frozen in time. Hugs, C
