Signs of the Times
It has finally happened. Wales has become smoke free. I am dead chuffed about it, and am now starting to realise what I have been breathing in for the last couple of years. I never saw any smokers when I was in England. I was shocked when I came to Wales and realised that I was in a minority.
But now... smoking has been stopped in all public places. The photo of the sign above was taken in The George and Dragon, Beaumaris. But it could have been taken in any pub in Wales. England is a bit behind us in this, as their ban only comes in, in July.
The regulars at The George and Dragon are now learning to live without cigarettes. The place is cleaner, my coat smells nicer, a few people do wander out to smoke in the street outside, but most are cutting down considerably.
There is an irony here. Tobacco wasn't discovered when this pub was first opened (1410), so we are only reverting to the way it was...
Below is a sign in the doorway of The George and Dragon, not an easy one to photograph.. poor light, no space...

More Catch Up Stuff
I am sorry that my blog has been pushed to the background. My life has taken a turn around and I am finding it more difficult to write it now. Mainly because I am lucky if I can get online most days. When I only get a few snatched minutes at my computer, I check email, maybe go to the chatroom, if Yahell allows it, and then have to rush off to cook, clean, catch up with my washing or just sleep. I have been trying to keep my social life, but even that is sporadic now.
The reason is that Mum has left her care home. She is able to walk to the toilet, with use of a zimmer frame, so the theory is she can be 'independant', as the social services people say. I think she was just unable to remain there, as Dad had gone.
So my days have been spent, in the house where my brother and mother live. I am bored senseless and have to keep busy cooking in batches for Mum. She is unable to swallow well and all food has to be liquidised. She needs her feet raised and put down on the floor, as she is refusing to use the chair that has been provided as it is an NHS issue, that fits Mr Average. Not a small lady.
Mum's memory has sort of taken a jolt. She muddles the care home and home. She has an army of carers that come to wash and sort her out, 3 times a day. Some she has known for years, yet fails to remember them.
Anyway, as my brother only has dial up at that house, I can't connect my iBook(G3 on OSX.3.9), which is in serious need of upgrading. I am unable to keep in touch with you all. If the blog has stopped for a while, don't worry, I am still there. I do get to read my emails, even if I skip some of the jokes. I have also made it to the pub a few times, although finding time to eat seems to be the worst. After a day of cooking, I can't face eating.
A lot of the time that I do get online, I just sort of waste my time in reading. I have tried Camfrog a bit recently, staring at the trivia bots seems my limit.
Now the summer is on its way, the tourists are starting to fill Anglesey, I was hoping to get out and take more photos, but I will have to wait till it gets lighter in the evenings. Days are just too full...
