Every duck has its day

While I was in Spalding, I bought a local paper and saw this story. I immediately had a good, and as I found out afterwards, a perfectly correct guess as to who the dog owner was...
The Story...Ducks!

The owner of the guilty dog said the dog was quick and following natural instincts, it happens, but Spalding really has enough ducks left that one will be sadly missed, but not effect the duck population to any great significance. He admits trying to hide the evidence with a burial at sea.. no.. river...

When I went into Hill's restaurant and asked "Where do I sit to see the Duck Slaughtering?" I was lucky to escape with my own life. The customers were up in arms... if they had had guns, I would have been shot myself...

I am wondering what you all think of us in UK... eating crispy aromatic duck one day, and then complaining about a duck being killed like this. I have also seen a few rats along that bank, so a quick death might have some advantages.. or has it?
